BE OUR HERO

PROTECTING OUR COLLECTIONS AT THE GROVER CENTER

The Shelby County Historical Society is protecting our valuable historic collections and museum with facility upgrades and we need your help. Your donation will help keep our treasures safe and secure for decades! At the Grover Center, we house over 15,000 artifacts and 20,000 archival items that tell the story of Shelby County. Coverlets, May Fest dresses, civil war sabers and scabbards, Shelbyville desks, letters, military uniforms, and books all are exhibited and housed at the Grover Center.

The Grover Center was built in 1950 as the Elks Lodge. SCHS purchased the building through funds from the estate of Lena Grover in 1979 and we opened in 1981. Our major facility projects in the next twelve months will include a new Roof, window replacement, window glazing, pressure washing, tuckpointing, and old sign removal. Grants will cover some of this, but the majority of the projects we will continue to raise funds.

There are many ways for you to donate. You can support with a specific amount or you can support a specific item. All levels are greatly appreciated. Your support and contributions mean the world to us, and we thank you for your assistance to keep us operational!
